Mark your calendars for July 5th*: Darien fireworks are back and better than ever. For the fourth year in a row, the Town of Darien Firefighters’ Foundation will be hosting Darien’s hometown fireworks celebration at Darien High School as a fundraising event, but now for the first time ever parking passes are available online. What’s even better? The foundation has turned it up a notch with the addition of food trucks from Darien’s Bodega Taco Bar and LobsterCraft. Other vendors providing fare include Uncle’s Deli, Burgers, Shakes & Fries, Melt Mobile, Chunky Pam’s Sweet Shoppe, Gofer Ice Cream, and Non-stop Donut shop. All food vendors give 10% of their proceeds to the firefighters’ foundation. If you buy your parking pass online, you’ll print out a receipt to be displayed in the windshield of your vehicles in order to be admitted to high school grounds. Alternately, a limited number of parking passes are for sale in the First Selectman’s office at Darien Town Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you choose not to donate to the Firefighters’ Foundation, free off-campus parking is also available. The fireworks display is free and walk-ins to high school grounds are given free admission. The fireworks will take place on the grounds of Darien High School at 80 High School Lane and will commence at sunset (approximately 9 p.m.), with entrance to the grounds beginning at 6 p.m. For more information about the 2014 Darien Firefighters’ Fireworks, email darienfirefighter@gmail.com or visit www.darienfirefighter.org. *Rain date is July 6th
